State Committee for City Building and Architecture of Azerbaijan assesses economic regions of the country to develop regional planning schemes, committee's deputy chairman Dovletkhan Dovletkhanov told Trend on Monday.

He said the committee is working on regional planning schemes of accommodation, natural use and territorial organization of the productive forces in Aran, Ganja-Gazakh, Guba-Khachmaz, Shaki-Zagatala and Lankaran economic regions.

"Plans for the first three regions should be ready in 2012 and half of work on them has already been implemented," said Dovletkhanov.

He said the project proposals will be made to these schemes in the second half of the year.

"We are working to assess the current situation in these regions. There are no specific proposals on them, because a solid database should be collected, the effectiveness of these regions in terms of their use in residential, agricultural and other purposes evaluated," Dovletkhanov said.

He said work on the schemes of Sheki-Zagatala and Lankaran economic regions should be completed next year.
