Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered to stimulate and intensify domestic banks’ activity at the meeting in Astana on Tuesday

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered to stimulate and intensify domestic banks' activity at the meeting in Astana on Tuesday, the Kazakh president's press-service reported.

"It is necessary to stimulate and intensify domestic banks' activity. Moreover, the situation in the restructured banks- BTA Bank and Alliance Bank should be stabilized," Nazarbayev said.

Within the meeting Nazarbayev gave special instructions on the exchange rate policy, keeping inflation in the forecast corridor and restoration order in pension funds.

Moreover, the President drew attention to the National Fund's assets management, the insurance market development and coordination of monetary policy with the Customs Union's member countries.

Within the meeting, the Kazakh National Bank's report for 2011 was reviewed.
The President assessed last year as successful for Kazakhstan.

"Due to the measures taken to increase the diversification of the economy and domestic demand and the favorable pricing environment for Kazakh export, GDP growth reached its highest level over the last three years (7.5 percent)," Nazarbayev said.
