Delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency to visit Baku

National Water operator JSC "Azersu" and the Japan International Cooperation Agency have identified a contractor for the reconstruction of water supply systems in cities Gusar, Khachmaz and Lankaran under the project of reconstruction of water supply and sanitation in small town, Azersu said on Thursday.

JSC Azərsutəchizattikinti is announced the winner of the tender. A contract with it has already been signed and the preparations for construction have already begun. Under the plan, the work must be completed by the end of 2013, the report said.

It is expected that the delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency will lay the foundation of the project during the visit to Baku on April15 - 25.

The project "Water supply and sanitation in small towns," funded by the Government of Azerbaijan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, provide the reconstruction of water supply and sanitation services in 10 cities and towns of Azerbaijan (Salyan, Shirvan, Neftchala, Barda, Khachmaz, Yevlakh, naphthalene, Khizi, Gusar and Gobustan).

Under a credit agreement signed on May 29, 2009, the Japanese side will provide loan amounting to 38 billion yen ($ 400 million) for the implementation of the project.
