The Spanish Eptisa company should complete by the end of March 2013 the environmental assessment under preparation of the regional development plan for Greater Baku until 2030, the project coordinator for the preparation of master plan, Novruz Eldarov, told Trend on Friday.
The Eptisa company was chosen a consultant on environmental issues, the contract was signed on April 11.
The Azerbaijani government has not accepted the offer of Eptisa to delay turnaround time up to October 2013, which would lead to a change in timing of the entire plan of regional development of the Greater Baku. Thus, the contract signed with the consultant indicated the completion of work within one year.
The project is being prepared in conjunction with consultants from the U.S. on economic development, Italy - urban planning and Baki Dovlet Layihe Institutu project institute.
The main task is to create an effective system of management of urban development of Greater Baku, and on its basis - all other cities and towns of Azerbaijan.
Greater Baku will include Baku and 11 surrounding areas, as well as Sumgayit and the Absheron region, together with Khirdalan, its total area is nearly 250,000 hectares.
