Kazakh ArcelorMittal Temirtau completes large investment project

Kazakh ArcelorMittal Temirtau company has completed one of its most ambitious and costly investment projects - reconstruction of the blast furnace No 2, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported referring to the company.

The blast furnace has been put into operation. Its design capacity amounts to 1.3 million tons of cast iron per year.

The reconstruction work was launched in 2009 and cost $109 million.

The project on blast furnace reconstruction is a part of the program on Kazakhstan's forced industrial-innovative development.

ArcelorMittal Temirtau is an affiliated company of ArcelorMittal company. It is Kazakhstan's largest company in mining and metallurgy sphere.

The company produced 3.684 million tones of liquid steel in 2011 (10.3 percent increase compared to 2010). The company's cast iron production hit 3.141 million tons (8.5 percent increase), rolled metal production amounted to 3.166 million tons (8.5 percent increase), agglomerate production - 5.856 million tons(11.4 percent increase), iron ore concentrate production - 3.956 million tons (5.2 percent increase) and coal production - 10.620 million tons (2.3 percent decrease).
