Uzbek National Bank of Foreign Economic Activity increases assets in 2011

The assets of the Uzbek National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity have increased by 13.3 percent in 2011 compared to the same period in 2010 to 7.876 trillion soum.

According to the report, the bank's loan portfolio increased by 17.9 percent last year to 4.686 trillion soum.

Net profit of the National Bank decreased by 4.5 per cent up to 67.598 billion soum in 2011.

The National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan was founded in September 1991 as a government agent in international financial markets. At present it acts as a universal commercial bank.

The bank is fully owned by the government.

The Bank has approximately 100 branches and offices, with a subsidiary bank "AsiaInvestBank" in Moscow. The bank serves about 2.5 million physical and legal entities. Correspondent relations have been established with 650 foreign banks.

The banking system is represented by 30 banks.

The official exchange rate on May 18 is 1865.13 soum / $1.
