Iran's electricity production has grown almost 6 percent since the start of the Iranian year on March 20, country's Young Journalists Club website reported.
The Islamic Republic has produced more than 70,000 gigawatts of electricity so far this Iranian year, a 5.65 percent increase over the same time last year.
Thermal power stations are responsible for most of that electricity, a little more than 66 thousand gigawatt hours, and hydro power stations produced the rest.
Compared to last year, thermal stations' production was up 72.5 per cent and hydro power stations' 45.4 percent.
Iran trades electricity with Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, the Republic of Azerbaijan (Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic), Iraq and Afghanistan. It plans to add Syria and Lebanon to its list of electricity customers.
