Azerbaijan supports Turkey in creating council of customs services’ heads of Turkic-speaking countries

Azerbaijan is ready to take part in creation of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of Turkic-speaking states, Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC) said on Saturday.

The relevant agreement was reached during a meeting of the State Customs Committee Chairman Aydin Aliyev and Turkish Customs and Trade Minister Ziya Altunyaldiz, held within the 119/120 sessions of the Customs Cooperation Council and the Global Excise Summit in late June - early July at the WTO headquarters in Brussels.

"The Turkish side made a proposal to establish a council of heads of customs services of the Turkic-speaking states, which was supported by Azerbaijan," the report says.

During the meeting with Bahraini Customs Minister, Mohammed bin Khalifa, the sides discussed prospects for signing an agreement on mutual assistance and cooperation in customs sphere between the two countries.

Relations with customs agencies of Norway, Sweden, Brazil, Israel, Lithuania and Macedonia were also discussed.
