Deficiencies of textile industry revealed in Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov drew the attention of the ministry of textile industry to the "presence of numerous deficiencies" and the fact that some companies operate at a loss, the official Turkmen sourcesaid on Wednes.

In this regard, the Program of development of branches of the textile industry and trade complex in2012-2016, which aims to "form an effective system of textile industry and trade, the most complete satisfaction of the domestic market and the growth of exports of domestic goods to foreign markets."

Measures to establish links with foreign exchanges are identified in the program.

The Turkmen leader said earlier that he work was adjusted in the field to increase productivity in enterprises, reduce production costs, and develop product placement services.

Enterprises weren't modernized enough, and not all textile complexes and factories were working at full capacity, foreign exchange earnings were decreasing.

The construction of a textile and dyeing factories in Rukhabat district and the second stage of the Ashgabat textile complex is being implemented in Turkmenistan. Work is underway on the construction of cotton mills in the town of Sadie, reconstruction and upgrading of a similar enterprise in the city of Turkmenabat Lebap region, as well as the construction of cotton factories in Kunya district of Dashoguz region.

The textile industry is developing based on the growth of domestic processing of cultivated cotton. Last year the country had harvested more than 1 million 50 thousand tons of cotton and has similar plans for this year. Traditionally, the country exports crude to China, Russia, Britain, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.

According to the development plan up to 2020 each region of the country will have its own processing capacities. These measures will help to open approximately 20 000 new jobs. Significant funds have been invested in a comprehensive modernization of the infrastructure sector since independence. Ashgabat opens specialized service centers of Schlafhorst, Truetzschler, Uster companies.
