Turkmenistan Airlines will receive three new modern Boeing airliners in 2013, the Turkmen state news reported on Wednesday.

The chairman of the state-owned company Merdan Ayazov reported the information to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and reported on measures taken to strengthen the material and technical base, as well as to modernize airports.

According to the information, the Turkmen leader said that the state will continue to take care of the replenishment of the air fleet.

The national air fleet has 19 Boeing-757, 737 and 717 today.

During the period of implementation of the National Programme for the Development of Civil Aviation of Turkmenistan the number of such aircraft will amount to 39.

"The choice by Turkmenistan of this particular type of aircraft is due to the accumulated positive experience of their practical use in the international, regional and domestic routes, which indicates the viability of the domestic civil aviation," the information said.

Since independence, Turkmenistan pilots transported via local and international flights 30 million passengers and about 400,000 tons of cargo and mail.
