Azerbaijani regions ensure almost 9 percent of population’s deposits

As of July 1, 2012, deposits of the population, attracted by banking system from Azerbaijani regions (the country's regions, except Baku), amounted to 381.7 million manat, or 8.72 percent of the total bank deposits, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said in its statistical report on Tuesday.

As of July 1, total volume of deposits throughout the country hit 4.372.6 million manat, including 2.480.7 million manat accounted for the national currency.

This figure on Baku amounted to 3.990.9 million manat, while 2.193 million manat accounted for deposits in local currency.

Average interest rate throughout the country hit 8.7 percent during the reporting period, in Baku - 8.9 percent.

The lending volume on the Absheron economic region hit 117.03 million manat at an average rate of 9.3 percent, Aran - 60.78 million manat at 4.9 percent, Daglig Shirvan - 8.59 million manat at 6.2 percent, Ganja-Gazakh - 74.64 million manat at 7.1 percent , Guba-Khachmaz - 26.95 million manat at 7.2 percent, Lankaran - 31.48 million manat at 5.9 percent, Sheki-Zagatala - 25.72 million manat at 5.3 percent, Upper Karabakh - 10.44 million manat at 3.5 percent, Kelbajar-Lachin - 2.77 million manat at 4.7 percent , Nakhchivan - 23.25 million manat at 3.3 percent.

The official exchange rate is 0.7855 manat to $1 on Aug.14.
