Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Aug. 24 / Trend H. Hasanov /

The Turkmen Central Bank strengthens effective cooperation with leading global financial institutions, especially with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Turkmenistan is IMF member since 1992, Turkmen official source said today.

The information that IMF carries out reforms aimed at preserving the stability of the international monetary system in terms of the global financial and economic crisis was voiced at the government meeting in Ashgabat.

IMF Executive Board has proposed for IMF members, including Turkmenistan to transfer a certain amount to a trust fund to reduce poverty and promote economic growth.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of transferring funds by Turkmenistan to this particularized fund.

"This action is primarily based on the fact that public policy is based on the principles of humanism of our ancestors and ancestral traditions of the Turkmen people, ready to help other nations in hard times," the president said.

He added that this confirms Turkmenistan's high economic potential and growth of its international prestige.
