Iran to double gas refining capacity

Iran's gas refining capacity will be doubled to 1.13 billion cubic meters per day by the end of the fifth five-year development plan (March 2016), the National Iranian Gas Company's managing director Javad Owji said, Mehr reported.

Owji told the Mehr news agency that over 13,000 kilometers length of new pipelines will be also inaugurated.

Iran plans to boost its oil refining capacity to 3.5 million barrels per day by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 2013) from the current volume of 1.7 mbpd.

Deputy Oil Minister Alireza Zeighami has said that a package of investment, worth $47.5 billion, has been prepared to develop different sectors of the oil refining and distribution industry.

Some $2 billion should be invested by 2015 to boost the storage capacity of oil products, the official noted.
