Batumi Sea Port handles 451 vessels

Batumi port handled 451 vessels for eight months in 2012. According to the Port Authority, the turnover of the port amounted to 207,046 tons of dry cargo, which is the highest result in the history of the port.

Maximum growth rates have been observed in: raw sugar (91 percent) and ammonium nitrate (+100 percent). Growth is also observed in general cargoes.

Batumi Sea Port transshipped 784,620 tons of dry cargo in January-July 2012, decreasing by 5.69 percent compared to the same period in 2011, but amounted to 101 percent of the planned production program plan for January-July 2012.

The expected volume of dry cargo in 2012 is 1.5 million tons which is the highest projected figure in the history of the port.

Raw sugar (32.71 percent) and ammonium nitrate (18.20 percent) is still leader in dry cargo transshipment. Significant growth was observed in the ore bulk cargo with an increase of 198.65 percent compared to the results of the reporting period of 2011.

Recall that the turnover of the Port in 2011 amounted to 1,517,790 tons.

Batumi Sea Port is located in the south-eastern part of the Black Sea. Number of berths - 11. The total area of open storage area - 16,412 square meters.

Number of port personnel - 726 people.

The port has an oil terminal (berths 1, 2, 3, and "non berth filling"), a container terminal (berth 4 and 5), the mooring system for ferry service, cargo terminal to handle dry cargo (berths 6, 7, 8 and 9) and a passenger terminal (berths 10 and 11).
