Car sales decrease by 15 per cent in Turkey

Car sales in Turkey fell by 15.14 per cent for the first eight months of the year to 461,084 units. There were also vehicles operating on electricity, Turkey's Automotive Industry Association said today.

Car sales in Turkey fell by 15.14 per cent for the first eight months of the year to 461,084 units. There were also vehicles operating on electricity, Turkey's Automotive Industry Association said today.

Last year, car sales in Turkey increased by 17 per cent compared to the previous year, reaching 414,310 units. Around 70 per cent fell to foreign cars.

In 2011, Turkish automotive industry exports rose by five per cent to 1.234 million vehicles.

Turkey's car market increased by 15 per cent in 2011 compared to the year before last. However, in December 2011 it decreased by 13 per cent compared to the same month in 2010.
