Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Sept.17/ Trend, H. Hasanov /

An international fair of consumer goods produced by CIS member countries will be held in Ashgabat from Sept.20 to Oct.10, an official Turkmen source said on Monday.

The main goal is to further deepen and develop trade and economic relations between the CIS countries and carry out the most complete implementation of multidimensional potential of a mutually beneficial partnership.

This representative forum is designed to become the best platform for building productive business relationships and beneficial exchange of experience in the industrial sector as well as in the development and practical introduction of innovative technologies.

Turkmenistan hosts this forum as the country presiding over the CIS in 2012.

In general, the concept of Turkmenistan's presidency in the CIS envisages holding 31 events in 2012. In November Ashgabat will host a meeting of the Council of Heads of States.

Turkmenistan, referring to its permanent neutrality, recognised and supported by the UN, made a decision in 2005 to partake in the CIS structure as an associate member.

Over the past few years, Ashgabat hosted several events within the CIS: the International Film Festival, Agricultural Forum, Summit of Foreign Ministers Council, Meeting of the Interstate Council for Standardisation, Metrology and Certification and the meeting of the Council of Commanders of border troops of the CIS and other countries.
