Foreign direct investments in Azerbaijan ensure 35 per cent of all investments

Nearly 60 per cent of investments in Azerbaijan's economy in 1995-2011 fell to the non-oil sector, the Ministry of Economic Development told Trend on Friday.

"Around $118.6 billion were invested in the Azerbaijani economy in 1995-2011, of which $48.5 billion was invested in oil and $70.1 billion in the non-oil sector," the ministry said.

Domestic investments in the reporting period amounted to $55.5 billion with foreign at $63.1 billion. Around 65.6 per cent or $41.4 million in the structure of foreign investments fell to direct investments.

According to the report, in 2011 total investments amounted to $21.6 billion.

"Foreign investments last year totalled $ 8.6 billion, including foreign direct investments, $ 4.4 billion, internal $13 billion," the ministry said. "Investments in the oil sector in the period amounted to $6 billion and in non-oil $15.6 billion."

Today, total investments in the Azerbaijani economy exceed $130 billion, the ministry said.
