In order to replenish the state coffers, Turkey plans the privatisation of Halkbank and Vakifbank, Zaman newspaper reported on Monday.

Conditions of Halkbank's privatisation are that of a state administration with a controlling interest. At least 24.9 per cent of the bank's shares will remain on the Istanbul stock exchange.

Turkish Vakifbank, 25 per cent of which was privatised in 2005, will be completely privately owned.
In this regard, the bank administration has to receive permission from the Central Bank.

The bank sector is currently being privatised in Turkey. Deniz Bank was privatised previously, bought by Russian Sberbank for 6.47 billion Turkish liras.

Reportedly, following the completion of Halbank and Vakifbank's privatisation, Turkey will put up the state bank Ziraat Bankasi for privatisation.
