Turkey's public external debt in the second quarter of 2012 decreased by 4.9 percent and hit 275.8 billion lira compared to the first quarter, the report of the Turkish Treasury, published on its official website said today.

Turkey's public external debt in the second quarter of 2012 decreased by 4.9 percent and hit 275.8 billion lira compared to the first quarter, the report of the Turkish Treasury, published on its official website said today.

In the first quarter, the national debt hit 290 billion lira.

According to the EU, Turkey's public external debt in the second quarter of 2012 amounted to 508 billion lira compared to 509.4 billion lira in the first quarter.

The country's external debt guaranteed by the state in the second quarter increased by 2.8 percent and 8.5 billion lira compared to the first quarter.
The official exchange rate is 1,7820 TRY/USD on Sept. 29.
