Uzbekistan ups Jan.-Sept. industrial production volume by 7.2 percent

Uzbekistan increased industrial production by 7.2 percent up to 36.684 trillion soums in comparable prices in January-September 2012 compared to the same period of 2011, the State Statistics Committee said on Friday.

The production growth in Uzbekistan hit 7 percent in January-September 2011.

According to the Statistics Committee, the largest share in the total production (26.9 percent) fell to the fuel and energy complex with electricity accounting for 8 percent, and the fuel industry at 18.9 percent as of the third quarter.

The share of machinery in total industrial production was 16.6 percent, the food industry - 13.7 percent, light industry - 11.8 percent, non-ferrous metallurgy - 11 percent, the chemical industry - 5.4 percent.

The share of enterprises with foreign investments in a total industrial volume was 16 percent compared to 16.4 percent a previous year.

It was previously reported that the fuel and energy sector ensured 25.2 percent of total production volume, including electricity -7.9 percent, fuel industry - 17.3 percent, machinery - 16.2 percent, food industry - 13.7 percent, light industry - 12.6 percent, non-ferrous metallurgy - 11.4 percent, chemical industry - 5.7 percent in January-September 2011.

The industrial production in Uzbekistan increased by 6.3 percent in 2011.

In 2012, the government plans to ensure the industrial production growth by 8.6 percent.
