Kazakhstan is occupying a leading place among all representatives of foreign business for the volume of funds invested in the economy of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz Ambassador to Kazakhstan Esengul Omuraliev said in an interview with Trend on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"Kyrgyzstan has been and remains attractive country for Kazakhstan in terms of investments. Kazakhstan takes one of the leading places among all representatives of foreign business for the volume of funds invested in Kyrgyz economy," Omuraliev said.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Antimonopoly Policy of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan made direct investments worth $1.034 billion to Kyrgyzstan in 2002-2011.
"I think that this is a small figure for our countries, and in the short term, with the start of operation of the Kyrgyz-Kazakh Investment Fund with a capital of $100 million, I hope, new joint projects will be implemented, which will further increase the volume of investments from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan," Omuraliev said.
