The shortage of powdered milk in Iran has caused a surge in the prices of dairy products in Iran, IRNA quoted advisor to Iranian Dairy Industries Company's managing director Hossein Chamani as saying.

Dairy industries are faced with the problem of a powdered milk deficit, he said, adding that out of 6000 tons of imported powdered milk, just 3000 tons has been released from customs.

Each kilogramme of powdered milk was sold at 35,000 rials last year, but it is currently priced at 110,000 rials, he noted.
