Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has approved the bill "Certification rules of products imported into Turkmenistan from abroad", the Turkmen government said today.

Turkmenstandartlary state service will conduct certification.

"The Turkmen president emphasized the need for strict quality control on all goods importing into the country and conformity with the requirements to ensure the rights and interests of domestic consumers," the information said.

The bill was presented at a government meeting. The operations are being conducted to test the products imported into the country and improve the order of its certification, in accordance with the requirements of international, inter-regional and national normative documents on standardization.

The regulation on "Turkmenstandartlary" was approved in 2010.

The state certification system covers almost all products and goods produced in large and small, public and private enterprises.

"Turkmenstandartlary" has been a member of the International Organization for Standardization ISO since 1993. It has been participating in the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification since 1992 and the Interregional Standardization Association of ECO member countries since 1991.

Turkmenistan has been introducing the internationally recognized standards ISO-9000. The certificates corresponding to this quality system have been obtained by enterprises of significant export-oriented textile, chemical, oil processing industries.

Moreover, "Turkmenstandartlary" acts as an independent expert service to assess the service quality of agricultural products, especially grain and cotton.

The international cooperation is being expanded to eliminate trade barriers for products manufactured in the country. The state electronic database is being created.
