Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan (FRDU) will allocate a loan in amount of 3.534 million euros to finance the contract on the purchase of nine trolleybuses of the Czech Skoda Electric company.

The contract is approved by the government decree 'On updating the rolling stock of trolleybuses in Khorezm region."

The loan will be allocated for a period of 10 years, including a three-year grace period. The interest rate on the loan is 1.25 per annum, including margin of refinancing Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank (Uzpromstroybank) in amount of 0.25 percent.

According to the contract signed by the Khorezm trolleybus management state enterprise and Skoda Electric, delivery of trolleybuses will take place in 2013.

Through decree, the government instructed the administration of Khorezm region to carry out repair of electric transportation infrastructure, including catenary, traction substations, the park and repair base, through the local budget within six months.

The last purchase of trolleybuses took place in Uzbekistan in 1994 - the Czech CKD Shkoda sold 100 trolleybuses to Tashkent worth about $ 18 million.

Khorezm is now the only region of Uzbekistan using this kind of transportation. Long-distance travel route Urgench-Khiva is operating here.

In 2010, according to the government decree, trolleybuses were taken out of service in Tashkent and other cities of Uzbekistan.
