Striking workers of the port of Poti on the Black Sea coast of Georgia returned to work on Saturday morning. The Port authority and the strikers were able to come to agreement with the participation of Economy Ministry, Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.

Kvirikashvili noted that the wages of the workers will be increased by 20 percent from December 1, although they were requiring a minimum of a 40 percent wage increase.

In addition, the other issues of worker's concern were also settled, Kvirikashvili said.

The minister said the relationship between employers and workers will be discussed in the framework of the Georgian government in the near future, which intends to revise the labor code in favor of the wage-workers.

The port of Poti was paralyzed by 70 percent within ten days as a result of the strike, in which members of the fleet, a group of reservists and loaders were participating.
