Turkish Ziraat Bank's profit for the first nine months of 2012 increased by 27 per cent amounting to 1.8 billion lira compared to the same period of 2011, the bank said today.

Turkish Ziraat Bank's profit for the first nine months of 2012 increased by 27 per cent amounting to 1.8 billion lira compared to the same period of 2011, the bank said today.

The bank's profit for the third quarter of 2012 amounted to 614 million lira, the report said.

The bank's net interest income for the third quarter of 2012 increased by 15 per cent amounting to two billion lira compared to the same period of 2011.

According to the report, as of the first nine months, the number of the bank's branches in Turkey was 1540.

Ziraat Bank is represented in 17 world countries. Turkish authorities earlier said they were going to partially privatise the bank which is wholly state-owned.

The official exchange rate is 1, 7681 TRY/USD as of Nov. 8.
