Uzbek resident population ups by 1.1 percent

The Uzbek resident population has increased by 1.1 percent since early 2012 and as of Oct.1 hit 29.875 million people, the country’s State Statistics Committee said on Tuesday.

The Uzbek resident population has increased by 1.1 percent since early 2012 and as of Oct.1 hit 29.875 million people, the country's State Statistics Committee said on Tuesday.

The urban population hit 15.269 million people, rural population - 14.605 million people or 51.1 and 48.9 percent respectively.

The birth-rate decreased by 0.2 per thousand in January-September compared to the same period of 2011, and hit 20.4 per thousand.

The mortality rate increased by 0.1 per thousand and reached 4.7 per thousand.

In January-September, registry office registered 189,300 marriages and 13,900 divorces. The number of marriages was 8.5 per 1,000 people (in January-September 2011 - 8.6), divorce - 0.6 (0.6).

The number of those who arrived in the country in nine months, according to preliminary data, hit 127,900, the number of those who left - 157,800.
