On 12 November 2012, UN Global Compact Local Network (GCLN), PwC Azerbaijan (GCLN Sustainability Partner) in cooperation with the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers') Organizations of Azerbaijan (ASK), ILO and IFC organized the Corporate Social Responsibility /Global Compact Conference at the Kempinski Hotel Badamdar. This successful event was attended by more than 100 representatives of the Government of Azerbaijan, business practitioners and civil society organizations. Mr. Niyazi Safarov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan made an opening speech, followed by the remarks by Mr. Antonius Bernardus Broek, UN Resident Coordinator and Mr. Mamed Musayev, President of ASK. Ms. Farida Akhundova, Marketing & Communications Manager of PwC Azerbaijan, Ms. Yukiko Arai, Senior Specialist, Multinational Enterprises Programme, ILO and Mr. Eldar Adilzade of the IFC ECA Corporate Governance Program delivered presentations on CSR, Sustainable Development, Socially Responsible Labour Practices, and Corporate Governance Standards.
The conference participants appreciated the integrity, clarity, comprehensiveness, practical value as well as high professionalism of the presentations, which triggered a lot of questions and interest. The organizers stay committed to continuous follow up on the CSR and sustainable development agenda and are open for dialogue and discussion of interesting opportunities.
