The Azerbaijani government has offered preferential terms to Polish companies to take part in two major projects.

"The Azerbaijani government is ready to provide a package of benefits to Polish companies wishing to participate in construction projects at the Chemical Industrial Park and the high-tech park," Deputy Economic Development Minister Niyazi Safarov said during the Azerbaijani-Polish business forum held in Warsaw on Monday.

The official informed large Polish companies about these projects. Project participants may be exempt from some taxes, including customs duties.

It will be sufficient for foreign companies to apply to the "single window" of the Ministry of Economic Development, which, in turn, is ready to provide all support to Polish investors, to obtain consent for participation in the projects.

According to a presidential decree on the establishment of the Sumgait chemical industrial park which was signed in December last year, the Ministry of Economic Development was entrusted to implement measures supporting the creation and development of the production and processing chemical industry enterprises at the Sumgayit chemical industrial park to enhance the capacity of the chemical industry and establish private enterprises in the area and manufacture competitive products from local raw materials.

Accordingly, the park creation process can take up to three years meaning the commissioning of enterprises on its territory can be completed by 2015.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of the High Technology Park in the country in early November.

The High-tech Park is a territory which has the necessary infrastructure, material and technical basis, management structures for preparation of new and high technologies, research in the field of energy efficiency, space and telecommunications, information technology and communications.
