Azerbaijan to complete part of work within construction of new port in 2013

Work within the first phase of construction of a new international trading port in Azerbaijan will be completed by late 2013, Head of Public Relations Department at the Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan, Namig Hasanov told Trend on Friday.

He said currently work within the construction of a new port is underway in accordance with the schedule.

"Construction work continues and there are no problems with their conduct in accordance with the schedule," Hasanov said.

He said the construction of the port will be fully completed in 2015.

The construction of new international port was launched in November of 2010. It is located 65 kilometers away from Baku in Alat village.

The construction of new international sea port in Alat village will be divided into 3 stages. The first stage provides construction of two ferry, 3 cargo berths for containers, 'ro ro' vessels and conventional bulk carriers. The second stage provides construction of 3 more cargo berths, the third- construction of 2 additional cargo berths. The port can receive up to 11.6 million tons of goods.
