Iran's agricultural products exports faced 13 percent increase in the first seven months of Iranian Calendar year, Iranian Agriculture Jihad Minister Sadeq Khalilian said on Tuesday, the IRNA News Agency reported.

Iran's agricultural products exports faced 13 percent increase in the first seven months of Iranian Calendar year, Iranian Agriculture Jihad Minister Sadeq Khalilian said on Tuesday, the IRNA News Agency reported.

Iran's cereals production so far has been ten percent more than previous year, Khalilian said.

He went on to note that Iran is registering a new record in the agriculture products output this year.

The country's oil seed output has also faced a 30 increase compared to previous year, he added.

Iran's fruit exports value is expected to reach $2 billion in the current calendar year.

Iran exported agricultural products worth over $1.131 billion in the previous calendar year. The value of exports of agricultural products was $64.1 billion more than imports in the past calendar year, which ended on March 19.

Iran is the Middle East and North Africa's greatest producer of garden products, and ranks 8th or 9th in the world, an official at the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad said on October 22.

Iran has been ranked between 8th and 10th in global fruit production in different years. In the productions of pomegranates and pistachios Iran ranks first, in dates and cherries, 3rd, 4th in the production of apples and walnuts, and, 7th in producing citrus fruits. Some 50 kinds of fruits are grown in Iran. The record for pomegranate production is 100 tons in a hectare of land, 146 tons for apples and 70 tons for oranges.

Iran inaugurated 4,724 agricultural projects during the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began March 20, creating more than 13,656 direct and indirect jobs, Iranian Managing Director of Agricultural Bank announced in November.

The projects are in the fields of water and soil management, animal husbandry, natural resources, agricultural industries, research and development, the Fars News Agency quoted Mohammad Talebi as saying.
