Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov has stressed the need for the creation of a transport and logistics center network within the country and abroad, particularly in China, Iran, and the Black Sea and Baltic countries.

"It is necessary to develop terminal-service infrastructure to further promote ourselves in foreign markets," Akhmetov said at a meeting in Astana today. "Kazakhstan is a country that has no open way to the sea. The country needs modern service infrastructure which has yet to be developed."

Akhmetov also spoke of the need to accelerate the founding of an integrated transport and logistics company that covers the member states of the Common Economic Space.

"Thus, in the future, the Kazakh network of transport and logistics terminals must cover Russia, Europe, and the Persian Gulf in order to ensure transport opportunities in all major areas of exports for the country", he said.
