Iran's trade balance (excluding oil and condensates) improved by over $7.45 billion in 2012 compared to 2011, the Mehr News Agency reported, citing the Customs Administration data.

The trade balance was positive with 98 countries and negative with 96 countries. Iraq, Afghanistan, the UAE, and South Korea were Iran's main trading partners in 2012.

First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi announced in January that Iran's overall non-oil trade balance is anticipated to reach zero in the current Iranian calendar year which ends on March 20.

The annual trade turnover is projected to reach $160 billion by the end of the fifth five-year development plan (March 2016).
