Uzbekistan plans to commission four enterprises to produce ceramic tile worth $48.6 million by late 2013, director general of Uzbek Construction Materials Akbar Mukhitdinov told media outlets today. The company unites construction companies.

He said that the total capacity of new enterprises is 9.8 million square meters of ceramic tiles per year.

The Russian company "Invest Realty" will construct a ceramic plant with a capacity of 2.7 million square meters of tiles per year in the Samarkand region by the end of the year. The projected cost of the plant is $29 million.

Iran's EMG will commission a plant worth about $12 million with a design capacity of 2.1 million square meters of tiles annually in Tashkent region.

According to Uzbek Construction Materials, the annual demand on the Uzbek domestic market for ceramic tiles is about 20 million square meters. The total production capacity of the construction industry is currently 5.4 million square meters of tiles per year.
