Tourist flow to Turkey increased by nearly 13 percent in January

The number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey in January 2013, increased by 12.54 per cent compared to January 2012 figures and accounted for 1.1 million people, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey said.

The number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey in January 2013, increased by 12.54 percent compared to January 2012 figures and accounted for 1.1 million people, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey said.

About 35 percent of the total number of tourists visited Istanbul. Other tourists visited mainly Antalya, Izmir, Adana and Edirne.

In January, most tourists came to Turkey from Syria - 111,600 people, Germany - 101,800 people, Georgia - 101,200 people.

The number of tourists from Azerbaijan increased in January 2013 by 7.6 percent compared to the same month in 2012, totaling 37,700.
