There is no deficit in Georgia's state budget, Georgian Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri said on Tuesday.

Khaduri said this at a meeting with journalists on Tuesday as part of the "Georgian government for open governance" program.

According to the Minister, budget revenues on taxes in January and February exceeded spending. In particular, tax revenues of the budget amounted to 870.1 million lari ($ 1 = 1.66 lari) in January and February, which is by 22.1 million lari more than last year. In February, revenues hit 408.3 million lari, which is 12 million more than the same period of last year.

Khaduri said that the amount collected in terms of tax income amounted to 844 million lari in January and February, which is 19.3 million more than last year. In February 2013, the tax revenues of the state budget amounted to 395 million lari, which is 10.9 million more than last year.

"The process, which began in the Georgian economy after New Year's, is positive," he said. "I hope that the forecast about six percent economic growth made in early 2013 is pessimistic."
