In January-February 2013, Turkey paid foreign debt to the sum of $4 billion, excluding debt of the private sector, a report of the Central Bank of Turkey, published on its official website on Friday says.
Some $3.3 billion of the total amount of debt was paid off from the state treasury, $155.3 million by the Ministry of Defence, $87.6 million at the expense of the Central Bank of Turkey and the remaining part by various government agencies of the country.
During the reporting period, $431.2 million was paid off through loans of the International Monetary Fund.
In 2012, Turkey satisfied a foreign debt by $12.7 billion, excluding the private sector.
According to the 2012 results, Turkey's foreign debt amounted to $101 billion.
