More than $2.3 billion worth of goods were exported in the past Iranian calendar year 1391 (ended on March 20) via Qasr-e Shirin, in the west of Iran, to Iraq, IRNA quoted Qasr-e Shirin county governor Hossein Parvin as saying.

The exported goods - mainly cement, tomato paste, fruits, shoes, and dairies, amounted to 4.6 million tons in weight, showing 17 percent rise year on year.

In November 2012, the Chairman of the Economic Development Committee of Iran and Iraq, Ali Saeedlou said that the Iran-Iraq trade could reach the $25 billion mark in the next two years, IRNA reported.

Saeedlou noted that the trade, which currently stands at some $12 billion, could reach $25 billion, as Iran has the expansion of economic ties with Iraq as one of country's priorities.

Saeedlou noted that Iran is interested in expanding economic relations with all neighboring countries, and especially with Iraq.
