The Ministry of Environment Protection of Georgia has given a negative response over the proposed construction of the hydroelectric power plant in the Hda valley of the Kazbegi region.

'A negative response was given on the evaluation report on the environmental impact of construction of the Kazbegi HPP on the River Brolistskali with a capacity of six megawatts presented by the Kazbegi Municipality Administration, as the report did not meet the requirements of the provision approved by the Minister of Environment on October 4, 2011', according to the statement released on Friday.

A number of NGOs, including the 'Green Alternative', 'Stepantsminda', 'Green Movement - Friends of the Earth' and others, have made a stand against the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in the Hda valley.
