State Concern Turkmenpagta (Turkmen Cotton) will sign a contract with the Turkish Engin Group to build two cotton cleaning enterprises, a decree of the country's president which was made public on Saturday, says.
According to the document, the decision was taken in order to provide cotton producers with the high quality of cotton seed and modernisation of cotton processing industry. The agreement covers enterprises with an annual capacity of 40,000 tons each in the Altyn Asyr district of the Akhal region and Sakarchage district of Mary province.
The contract also envisages building a new production workshop in the area of the cotton cleaning enterprise based in the Akdepe district of the Dashoguz region. Construction of all facilities will start in April 2013 and be commissioned in April 2015. The total area of each of the two enterprises will be 16 hectares.
These will be complexes with production facilities, a laboratory and warehouse and office facilities. Each of the enterprises will have cotton receiving points that can each take 10,000 tons of raw materials.
As local specialists said, unlike previous methods of seed cotton preparation, advanced chemical cleaning technologies will allow the system to completely dehull the seeds, removing lint while preserving their high germination.
