The Turkish mining sector increased its exports by 40 percent during the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, the Turkish Miners Association said today.
According to the report, mining products amounting to $ 1.7 billion were exported during this period.
The largest share of exports was to China in the first quarter. Exports to China increased by 1.5 times, amounting to $ 604 million.
The country exported mining products to 160 world countries from January to March. Exports to West Africa increased by five times during the period.
The main types of mining products exported by Turkey include marble and travertine blocks - 36 percent, copper ore - 23 percent and processed marble - 13 percent.
