State Company "Turkmenkhimiya" plans to sign a number of contracts with "KhimVostok" Ltd. (Russian Federation) for the purchase of 66,399 tons of carbamide fertilizer and 51,500 tons of ammonium nitrate, as well as the purchase and delivery of 19,600 tons of potassium chloride fertilizers to Turkmenistan.according to a presidential decree published on Monday.
It was noted in the decree of the President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov that this will serve the aims of the chemical sector in accordance with the National Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2013, as well as will promote the supply of the country's agricultural producers with mineral fertilizers.
Cotton, wheat, rice and sugar beet are cultivated in Turkmenistan.
The chemical industry of the country is one of the fastest growing sectors of the national economy having enormous resource potential.
A large industrial complex with annual capacity of 400,000 tons of ammonia and 640,000 tons of carbamide is being built near the city of Mary (eastern region).
Implementation of the project will contribute to an increase of the annual production of nitrogen fertilizers to one million tons and increase of export opportunities.
The largest, mining and processing complex for the production of potash in Central Asia is being built in the Lebap district of Garlyk.
In addition, last year an enterprise in Turkmenabat launched the production of a new type of fertilizer - oksigumat used for processing cotton seeds. The mentioned enterprise also produces ammonium and meliorant superphosphate.
