Number of foreign purchases of property in Turkey calculated

Since the adoption of a law allowing foreigners to purchase property in Turkey (August 2012), the number of foreigners who have bought property there has reached 14,500, according to a report of the Ministry of Urban Development of Turkey, published on its website on Monday.

Since the adoption of a law allowing foreigners to purchase property in Turkey (August 2012), the number of foreigners who have bought property there has reached 14,500, according to a report of the Ministry of Urban Development of Turkey, published on its website on Monday.

According to the report, some 13,400 units of real estate were sold, of which 2,600 are vacant lots and 10,800 are housing.

The greatest interest in Turkish real estate came from Russian citizens. During this period, Russians purchased 4,500 units of real estate.

According to the report, Russians are followed by British citizens, who purchased 3,800 units of real estate in Turkey. Third place is occupied by German citizens, who purchased 3,600 units of real estate.
Other countries with a strong interest in Turkish real estate are Sweden, Norway, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The largest number of real estate pieces were acquired in Turkish provinces of Mersin, Izmir, Yalova, Bursa, Ankara, Trabzon, Çorum, Sakarya and Tekirdag.

It was reported that before this law entered into force, only citizens of nations who let Turks buy land were allowed to purchase property in Turkey.
