Turkish Insurance Association estimates the damage caused by the protests held in the country, the organization told Trend.

The Association said there are currently more than 200 insurance companies, and the affected businesses have turned to them for obtaining compensation.

Total amount to be paid to the affected owners is currently unknown.

The protests against the reconstruction of the Gezi Park in Taksim Square of Istanbul have been ongoing for more than 10 days.

Clashes have occurred recently between the protesters and the police in Kızılay Square in Ankara.

Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said the damage caused by the protests in Turkey exceeds 70 million lire.

The official exchange rate on June 10 is 1.8862 TL / USD.
