BP's latest report says Iran holds world's first place regarding gas reserves

British Petroleum's statistical review of world energy published on June 12 indicates that Iran holds the biggest gas reserves in the world.

According to the report, Iran's proved gas reserves until the end of 2012 were 33.6 trillion cubic meters, which shares 18 percent of total proved gas reserves in the world.

After Iran, Russia and Qatar ranked as second and third gas reserves holders in the worth with respectively 32.9 tcm and 25.1 tcm of gas reserves.

According to the report, Iran produced 160.5 billion cubic meters of gas (excluding recycled and flared gas) in 2012, which indicates a 5.4 percent increase compared to 2011 and shares 4.8 percent of total produced gas in the world.
