Volume of construction operations increases by almost 15 percent in Azerbaijan

The volume of construction work increased by 14.1 percent to 2.75 billion manat in Azerbaijan in January-May 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said on Tuesday.

According to the report, around 67.8 percent of the total volume of construction work fell to primary construction, renovation and expansion, 17.4 percent - overhaul, 2.5 percent - current repair, 12.3 percent - other types of construction work.

The non-state construction companies executed 78.2 percent of construction work.

Around 94,600 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in January-April 2013 or by 15.4 percent more than in the same period of 2012. The nominal salary in the construction sector amounted to 592.3 manat or 4.7 percent more than the same period of last year.

The average salary in state-owned companies amounted to 484.8 manat (increasing by 11 percent), in private companies - 645 manat (with a decrease of 1.7 percent).

The amount of the salary in the construction of buildings increased by 1.2 percent - an average of 564.8 manat, in specialized construction (an increase of 6.6 percent) - up to 748.2 manat, in the field of civil construction operations by 21.5 percent - up to 481.5 manat.

The official exchange rate is 0,7846 AZN/USD on June 20.
