The detailed general layouts of all Azerbaijani cities will be developed within three years, deputy chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Dovletkhan Dovletkhanov told Trend on Friday.
"The new Town Planning and Building Code requires the development of detailed city plans that will serve as a basis for the issuance of building permits. Within these three years, each city should obtain a similar plan," Dovletkhanov said.
According to him, 20 cities in Azerbaijan still do not have general layouts.
"Previous general layouts that will not meet the new requirements will also be reviewed. There remain about 20 cities without general layouts. We will develop them, and then we will proceed to revise the old ones. According to the new code, a part of the works on town planning was transferred to the local executive authorities and municipalities, now they have the authority to declare tenders, attract contractors and consultants. Funds for this work are allocated from the state budget, and the committee will coordinate these plans," Dovletkhanov said.
According to him, works on planning the cities of Naftalan, Mingachevir, Gusar, Goychay are starting, and the plans of the cities of Zardab, Lankaran, Siyazan, Yardimli, Neftchala, Balakan are under development. The work on the general layouts of Ganja and Sumgayit is being finalized.
