Iran exports over $46 million worth of agricultural products through Astara

Over $46.338 million worth of agricultural products were exported from Iran's northern port city of Astara in the first three months of the current year, which started on March 21, the head of Astara's Agricultural Jihad Organization, Iraj Shiarkar, said on Saturday.

The exported consignments weighed 65,450 tons, the IRNA News Agency quoted Iraj Shiarkar as saying.

Iran exported 24 items including kiwi, potato, raisin, apple, and vegetables from Astara in the mentioned period, he explained.

Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and Central Asian countries were the main destinations for the exported products, Shiarkar added.

There was a 10 percent rise in weight and a 30 percent increase in terms of value compared to the same period of time previous year, he said.
Iran exported $4.2 billion worth of agricultural products in the previous calendar year, which ended on March 20.
