Baku may host the annual meeting of the EBRD Board of Directors in 2017. Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said at a meeting with a delegation led by EBRD president Suma Chakrabarti, the Ministry reported on Monday.

Baku may host the annual meeting of the EBRD Board of Directors in 2017. Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said at a meeting with a delegation led by EBRD president Suma Chakrabarti, the Ministry reported on Monday.

According to the report, Mustafayev discussed filling vacancies in the bank with young Azerbaijani specialists.

Before the meeting, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to Azerbaijan's economic success. During the exhibition Mustafayev informed an EBRD delegation about the socio-economic progress made by the country for the last 10 years, the current activities in this area and targeted state programs.

Mustafayev said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the relations with EBRD. The minister also said that Chakrabarti's visit to the country testifies to the successful bilateral cooperation.

Mustafayev appreciated EBRD's participation in various projects, implemented in Azerbaijan, and the bank's support for the country's private sector.

It was stressed during the meeting that loans worth $ 2.1 billion were delivered within 134 projects during EBRD's activity in Azerbaijan. Around 1.4 billion of these funds were directed to support 125 projects in the private sector.

EBRD president Suma Chakrabarti lauded the country's progress over the last ten years and its measures for the diversification of the national economy. He also put forward the initiative of holding "Days of Azerbaijan" in EBRD headquarters.

Chakrabarti welcomed the initiative to hold the EBRD Board of Directors in Baku, stressing that he will continue activity aimed at the development of relations with Azerbaijan.
