Eurostat: Germany Iran’s main trade partner in EU

Iran-Germany trade turnover has reached some 1.056 billion euros during first six months of the current year, which indicates a decrease by 23 percent compared to the same period last year, Tasnim news portal reported citing Statistical office of the European Union-Eurostat.

Belgium ranked second among Iran trade partners in EU with a total trade turnover of 831 million euros, which increased 3-folds compared to the same period last solar year, the report said.

According to the report, Italy is Iran's third trade partner in the EU.

Iran-Italy trade turnover has decreased by 79 percent from 2.884 billion euros in last year's first six months to 581 million euros during the same period of the current year.

France, Spain, Netherlands, Lithuania, Austria, Romania and UK are the next EU countries in the top ten list of the trade turnover with Iran.

The report said that total turnover value between Iran-EU has decreased by 56 percent during first six months of the current year compared to the same period last year, and reached some 3.79 billion euros.

During the period, EU`s export volume to Iran was 8 time more than imports from Iran, the report said.

EU has imported some 395 million euros of goods from Iran during the period which has decreased by 92 percent compared the first six months of the last year.

International sanctions against Iran are the main reason of sharp decrease in Iran and EU trade turnover.
